All about the Royal Road: From Sáchica To Villa De Leyva: The Ruitoque Gullies.

    General description

Sáchica and Villa de Leyva Boyacá are part of the province of Alto Ricaurte, which has been nominated by UNESCO to be declared cultural patrimony of humanity as a mixed landscape: natural and cultural, because of its great patrimonial richness: archeological, historical, paleontological and because it is the guardian of the natural park of the Iguaque moor and the Candelaria desert.

These two towns share a common history that goes back to the 16th century, but they have particular local identities and histories: Sáchica as an old chieftaincy of the Muisca culture and later as a “village of the Indians of the Spanish crown” during the XVI, XVII and XVIII centuries and Villa de Leyva, a village of Spaniards founded in 1572, focus of the conquest and the colony of the Saquencipá Valley; these two towns preserve monuments and historical patrimonial traces that tell us about the encounter between the Muisca and Spanish worlds, we will travel in time through these historical traces to tell how the provincial identity was formed.

The route begins in either of the two main squares of either Sáchica or Villa de Leyva, with a professional historical explanation of the monuments, and then follows the old bridle path used until well into the twentieth century to communicate these two towns, a journey into the past through the rugged mountains and fresh, wild plateaus, which contrast with the gullies that produce erosion and generate unique semi-desert landscapes; A road through which one day mule trains with agricultural and food products, food and important reasons waved in the mountains and that today represents a path of extreme beauty, wild and pristine. We will put our bodies and minds in balance with the landscape and we will feel what those travelers felt for centuries, who on foot or in beast, traveled these rural roads, in a silent world far from the modern world.

We have attended more than 300 clients among Colombians and foreigners, and we have several very important alliances: Bohio Travel; Zebra Fisgona; Tripyco Colombia; Typical; Agencia 90 grados; CicloTrip; Neptuno travel agency; Hotel Villa Alegría in Sáchica; Hotel Gran Siruis in Sáchica; network of museums of Alto Ricaurte; council of Tourism of Sáchica; Secretariat of culture, tourism and communications of Sáchica and of course the SENA FONDO EMPRENDER.
