    General Description

Sáchica Boyacá is part of the province of Alto Ricaurte, which is nominated by the Ministry of Culture of Colombia before the UNESO, to be declared CULTURAL HERITAGE OF HUMANITY, as a mixed landscape: natural and cultural, for its great archaeological, paleontological and historical richness. Likewise, one of the most complete pliosaur fossil findings in the world is being adapted in Sáchica, soon to be available to the public.

The route begins with a professional historical explanation of the architectural set of the central square of the municipality, park of olive trees of the town; that is to say the church, atrial cross of century XVII and stone of the punishment; monumental vestiges of the past of Sáchica and the region, traces of the encounter of the worlds: Spanish and indigenous and evidences of the evangelization and the Spanish conquest that took place in these latitudes and that marks the beginning of the locality to the style of the Spanish layout, populated center where the local history would be developed, the identity and sense of property of the sachiquenses.

This is a cultural heritage tourism route par excellence; as it includes the observation of the daily life of the Sáchica community, agricultural to the present day; an activity that goes back thousands of years and is related to the origins of agriculture in the region, that is to say that we will be able to contemplate its cultural landscape;we will cross small forests in the middle of the agricultural valley, by footpaths frequently used by the community; reason why we will see first hand the own activity of the town, its people and culture, with the greater respect and minimum intervention of the landscape, we will be able to contemplate the cultures and some customs of the premises; the mission of the cultural tourism is to give to know other cultures, in this case the culture of Sáchica Boyacá.

By mountain paths and bordering the Sáchica river we will arrive at the cave paintings, which are archaeological patrimony of the humanity and a site of cultural interest for the municipality.

It is a group of paintings in rocky shelter, that represent astronomical calendars, mountains, crops, faces, insects, birds and abstract figures of the Muisca culture; original inhabitants of this territory at the arrival of the Spaniards in the 16th century; it is pertinent to say that the Spaniards tried to annihilate any trace of indigenous culture, as a method of conquest and submission; So it is very important that these paintings have survived all these centuries, to give us a direct message from our indigenous ancestors; we want you to know about these paintings on rock made hundreds of years ago; their problems and their interpretations, so that we can reflect on the legacy of our indigenous past and its importance for the future of the community, the idea is also to generate discussions that contribute to the different situations and problems of the site and in this way you will be able to understand the importance of these paintings for the future of the community. participate in the conservation, dissemination and enjoyment of our cultural heritage and that of all humanity. With a professional explanation of the site and with a sense of belonging, we intend that our cultural wealth will remain and be sustainable in the long term.

We will visit the hot springs on the banks of the Sáchica River, which form a waterfall of sulfuric thermal water with the perfect temperature for the human being; it is a wild place, where the hot volcanic water flows into the Sáchica River, which descends from the Iguaque moor and is nourished by various streams and creeks throughout the mountain system that surrounds the valley.
